{"id":12410,"date":"2015-05-29T12:47:47","date_gmt":"2015-05-29T09:47:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rupert.lt\/rupert-at-warsaw-bauhaus-visiting-poland-in-the-60s\/"},"modified":"2015-05-29T12:47:47","modified_gmt":"2015-05-29T09:47:47","slug":"rupert-at-warsaw-bauhaus-visiting-poland-in-the-60s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rupert.lt\/lt\/rupert-at-warsaw-bauhaus-visiting-poland-in-the-60s\/","title":{"rendered":"Rupert at Warsaw Bauhaus: Visiting Poland in the 60s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #141823;\">During our last trip to Warsaw, our annual Alternative Education Program end of the year trip, we were introduced to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/warsawbauhaus.org\/\">Warsaw Bauhaus<\/a>, a local organism\u00a0<\/span>cultivating progressive alternatives to the art world, involving all disciplines. It was an impromptu late night meeting at the end of a full day. We reached their intimate vitrine space on\u00a0Dobra street 15, across from a blazing neon copy of &#8222;the fine action of a woman throwing a volleyball&#8221; or &#8222;Siatkarka&#8221; (designed by Jan Mucharski in 1960 and restored by Paulina O\u0142owska in 2006) and were introduced to\u00a0an array of design objects from the 60s and 70s, old copies of Projekt magazine and Ubu posters, among many other wonders. Joanna and Wojtek\u00a0spoke to us about Warsaw Bauhaus and the meetings they regularly host there and soon there was an idea for a gathering.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #141823;\">Julijus (Bal\u010dikonis) had brought with him two 8mm rolls of film with footage from visits to fabric factories and other places in Warsaw, Gdansk, Sopot as well as other places in Poland,\u00a0captured\u00a0by his grandfather\u00a0<\/span>Juozas Bal\u010dikonis during his trip to Poland in the 60s. Julijus had also brought with him a portable projector.\u00a0The films originating, in a way,\u00a0in Japan (where the camera was constructed)\u00a0had travelled from Vilnius to Poland and back to Vilnius and were now experiencing a strange homecoming.<\/p>\n<p>Two days later, we were cracking open a bottle of W\u00f3dka \u017bo\u0142\u0105dkowa Gorzka, and\u00a0looking at\u00a0footage from the 60s projected onto the wall of Warsaw Bauhaus.\u00a0The projection was followed by Kristina Skaldina &#8222;sculpting the moment&#8221; whereby at interval moments we were asked to close our eyes and observe our bodies, which sparked a lively discussion, followed finally by a film by Jamie Kane documenting the intimate process shared between three friends &#8211; an artist (in this case the filmmaker) and two actors, asked to perform and improvise a series of actions.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/warsawbauhaus.org\/\">Warsaw Bauhaus<\/a>\u00a0for hosting us and to Adi for introducing us to them.
