Armin Lorenz Gerold
Armin Lorenz Gerold is an artist and composer based in Berlin. Working across a multitude of media, he primarily focuses on voice and sound, making audio plays, live-performances, broadcasts, and installations.
During his residency, Gerold is researching and developing the project ‘low frequencies’. In this work, he brings together his sound-reflective writing practice with historical and literary research on land surveying, resource extraction, and colonialism. A particular focus is devoted to the work of Swedish author and literary historian Sven Lindqvist (1932–2019), whose writings Gerold draws on to trace connections and similarities with our immediate present, aiming to make them perceptible through sound and narration.
As part of the project, Gerold is developing a series of loudspeaker sculptures designed to distribute the resulting audio recordings and new sound compositions.
