Luisa Berghammer

Luisa Berghammer (she/her) is an artist currently based in Vienna, where she studied both Stage Design and Fine Arts at the University of Applied Arts. Working in the media of video, sculpture and text, she is interested in the economies of contemporary production as well as those situated outside the market. Luisa often derives her source material from the surplus and the vacancies arising from discrepancies; discrepancies between a product and its manufacturing conditions, between a concept and its execution, between collectivity and the ego. Currently she’s hooked on intersecting terrorist writings with the avantgarde, regarding the gap between theory and practice as a shoreless condition of its own. Her work is shaped by the desire for a critically revised approach to autonomy – artistic, political and bodily autonomy alike. She works alone and in collaborations.
Luisa’s work has been exhibited at Kunsthalle Vienna, AT (2024), Neuer Kunstverein Wien, AT (2024), Zink Kunstverein, AT (2023), Volkstheater Vienna, Dunkelkammer, AT (2022), PARALLEL Vienna; AT (2022) and Oststation, AT (2021).
