Rupert: The New Beginning

Yes, the talk of the town is true! After more than ten years of close coexistence with the forest, Rupert is relocating its base.
Our refuge and retreat in the Vilnius neighborhood of Valakampiai, on the banks of the river Neris, welcomed hundreds of artists and cultural workers from all over the world. The studios became a place for contemplation, serenity, and introspection for everyone we’ve hosted. Designed for Rupert from the outset by architect Audrius Ambrasas, the Tech Arts building is the place where we grew up, apprehended our environment, and enriched our practice.
In this next chapter, Rupert will move closer to you and become an even more active neighbour. Our new location in central Vilnius will also be specifically tailored for our programmes, our vision for the future of creative ideas, and our connection with the surrounding communities. This new facility reaffirms our commitment to the value of the artistic process long into the future. Stay tuned.
Most importantly, on Saturday, 28 June, we are marking this significant metamorphosis with Mass Moving, a one-day ceremony curated by Monika Lipšic and led by artists Future Farmers, George Finlay Ramsay, Alina Schmuch, Rūta Junevičiūtė, Edgy Palates and more. Join us with your presence – and your stories – as we celebrate our years in Valakampiai.
To our neighbors and friends from the past decade: thank you for your dedication and support. We will carry that communal spirit, our joyful memories together, and perhaps some of these surroundings to our new home.
Endings are always emotional. We’re incredibly excited about all that is to come.
