Rupert Reading Sessions #1 Monica Mays: Bucolic Gang

Rupert is pleased to announce monthly reading sessions. On April 16th, from 18:30, our current artist in residence Monica Mays will be running the first session that weaves together extracts from several authors in relation to her research on locality, care and myth making. The session will be held virtually and is open by registration. The maximum number of participants is 15.

This month, current artist in residence Monica Mays will be running Rupert’s first monthly reading session. In the session, we will weave together extracts from several authors in relation to her research on locality, care and myth making. We will discuss how the texts can connect to praxis, invoking folk, pre-patriarchal and pagan pasts, in a ‘hereish’ and ‘nowish’, paraphrasing Elizabeth A. Povinelli, to generate forms of emancipatory belonging.

(Materials will be sent via email after the registration).
Reading list:
1. Timothy Morton: Portals
2. Silvia Federici: Reenchanting the World
3. Elisabeth A. Povinelli: Geontologies
4. Agata Marzecova: The vernacular geology of the Baltics
5. Tim Ingold: Knowing From The Inside
6. Anna Tsing: Earth Stalked by Man
7. Isabelle Stengers: Reclaiming Animism
8. Marija Gimbutiene: The Language of The Goddess
